A Guitar in a Sea of Queen Anne’s Lace

Here’s some senior photos I did on Thursday. Dylan’s a senior at North Albany, plays rugby, is on the cross country team, and has been playing bass since about the time he could walk. I almost never do portraits so this was a fun change of pace from what I’m used to. I’d like to do some more of these if I can find some more people that are as easy to work with as Dylan!

Help With Dinner

My friend John Beaver drove up from Eugene today to help out. John made some killer cauliflower and Micah helped me make salad and pasta with fresh tomatoes and herbs from the garden. Then we all cleaned up the kitchen afterwards. Micah is such a good kid – he reminds me of myself as far as getting distracted, but he’s so willing to help out with anything. I don’t remember myself being that willing…

Another Stroke

Yesterday everything was going great until I got home around 9:30 last night. I had just finished a 4 hour senior portrait session (I’ll have to post some of those later), but when I walked into the back room my father said something was wrong. I told him to stay there but he didn’t seem to understand me and almost fell over when he tried standing up. I was pretty sure he was having another stroke (he had had a minor one two years ago), so I called 911. The ambulance and fire truck showed up along with what seemed like a dozen emergency workers and confirmed it was. My dad refused an ambulance ride, so I ended up taking him and Micah to the emergency room, where they kept my dad overnight to do a bunch of tests.

My dad’s back home now but it’s not going to be easy as he lost more of his vision and is having a hard time reading, along with some other problems. I’m not sure how much he’ll recover, but it looks like I’ll at least be spending the next couple weeks taking care of him, plus more time with Micah.

I’m glad I was home when it happened. I’m just going to take this a day at a time and do what I can…
